Grilling chicken?

I want to make BBQ chicken legs on the grill, but I worry about the meat getting done. This grill tends to burn things easily, and the chicken legs are pretty big and will take a long time. We have a small Gas Grill – a Grill Caddie or something like that. Would it be ok to bake them first, then put them on the grill for a few minutes to get that good grilled flavor? How long would you recommend baking?

yes, bake @350 for about 30 min. then grill, to offset a hot grill turn heat on one side and slow cook on other side with lid closed.
