Why am I STILL not considered a “Grown Up”?

I’m in my mid-twenties, married, and have children…yet, when I go to family functions I feel as if I should still be sitting at the “kids” table. Whenever I have any input to the conversation at hand, I am immediately cut off, passed over….not even given second thought, completely ignored! Just like a child is all too often ignored and passed aside by the “grown up”.
At my birthday and other holidays, I still receive the things one would get for a 14 year old girl. I know I should be thankful to receive gifts, I’m not ungrateful by any means, but I could sure use a good Cookbook Over 15 different flavors of lip gloss.
Whenever I spend time with family members individually they treat me like a grown up…it’s just when we all get together for dinner and celebration.
What will it take for me finally be treated as an equal at family get-togethers; for them to finally think I have something of substance to add to their conversation…or their lives?

speak up honey girl. just tell them that you feel like they are treating you badly. say i really love the thought of you getting me a gift, but i am a mother and a wife now and i would love a cookbook, or a crockpot. something that i can use for the family.
whe someone cuts you off in mid sentence then you should just talk louder, or turn and look at them and say, as nicely as you can, please let me finish what i was saying. or just freak out really good on them once. that works too sometimes.
