Will eyelids decrease the glare of a 6000k HID conversion kit on a 2004 Rav4?
i installed a 6000k H4 HID Conversion Kit on my Rav4. I’ve notice that the light patterns spread upwards and all around. I’m planning to put eyelids on my rav4 to minimize the top portion of the light to decrease so that the light pattern will only hit the middle, sides, and lower also. any feedback will be helpful.
Modern head lights are refractive, and the beams that are traveling upwards are also from the bottom of the lamp assembly. While eyelids will help reduce some of the light beam reflecting from the upper portion of the reflector assembly, the lower portion, which reflects a much broader beam, will be unaffected and continue to annoy other drivers.
If your beams are too high, you should adjust your headlights. A good general rule of thumb (Every state is different), is that your main beam cannot illuminate the passenger compartment of a vehicle 50 feet or more in front of you. If that’s happening and you can’t aim your head lights any lower, you need to switch back to regular lights.
Glare can be greatly reduced by simply keeping your headlamps very clean. The majority of the glare is generated by the intense light refraction off dust particles, moisture and ice on the head light assembly.
