Happy first day of autumn! My favorite season always puts me in a baking mood. What are your favorite recipes?
Here, in northeastern Pennsylvania that we are having blue skies and beautiful autumn temperatures. It's the perfect day to play in the kitchen. So many choices, but What can I do? Is it the delicious aromas wonderful baked goodies to send the whole house? Or is the homemade hot soup / stew that warms the stomach? What are your favorite recipes?
These are my favorites. The clay Pot Recipes can be made in the oven at 325F for half the time indicated. Unless chicken and dumplings usually cooked on the top floor of the oven for about 2-3 hours. Bittersweet Moms Meatloaf Sauce: 2 small cans of sauce tomato 1 / 4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1 / 2 chopped onion 1 tablespoon dried parsley 1 / 2 cup brown sugar Mix all ingredients together in a bowl of salsa, withdrawal land. Ingredients (Meatloaf): 2 pounds Ground Beef 1 / 2 chopped onion, 1 egg, beaten 1 / 2 cup or more if needed, quick oatmeal (not instant) 1 teaspoon garlic salt In another bowl add ground beef, 1 / 2 chopped onion, egg, oatmeal, garlic salt, pepper and 1 / 3 of the sauce mixture. Mix well. Place in pan, leaving space between the meat and bread around the edges with your fingers. Flatten top, spread more sauce on top and cook for 1 hour at 350F. Drain as fat middle (30 min) and add more sauce. Reserve some sauce for adding when served. The oatmeal disappears, is healthy and can not be proven. Only be better coordinated. Add more if needed. Savory Roast Beef 3-4 pounds roast 1 can cream of mushroom steak sauce 3 TB (optional) 1 can water 1 package Lipton dry soup mix Place roast onion in clay pot. Add the gravy up and spread to coat evenly. Add cream of mushroom soup in the extends to the upper layer. Sprinkle onion soup and add water. Simmer for about 8-10 hours or until meat separates easily. Makes 4 servings. French dip sandwiches for meat: French Rolls, roast beef, and Au Jus mix with a little fat from the meat added for dipping. Horseradish Sauce spicy if you like. Split peas, ham, sausage and soup 12 oz peas 2 -14 oz cans beef or chicken broth 16 ounces kielbasa or Polish sausage cut into chunks small 1 cup carrots 1 cup ham, chopped 1 onion, chopped 1 bay leaf, salt and pepper to taste Soak peas overnight in water, drain. Put peas, broth, ham, carrots, onion, bay leaf and seasonings in crock-pot. Brown sausage in a skillet and add to the electric skillet. Fill a 2 "top with water, cover and cook on low for 10 hours or high for 5 hours. Remove the cap from the last hour to thicken or add cornstarch mixed with cold water to soup. Remove bay leaf. Serve with cornbread and honey butter. Chicken and Dumplings 1 whole chicken 1 bay leaf 2 tsp garlic salt 6 grains of black pepper 6 cups water 1 cup baby carrots 1 package refrigerator biscuits (10 to 12) Place chicken in Crock Pot and add everything except carrots. Cook simmer for about 8-10 hours. Remove chicken and de-bone. Pour the broth into the pot on the stove and heat until boiling. Add carrots and cook for 30 minutes. Broth Thicken with cornstarch or flour mixed with cold water. Tear refrigerator biscuits 3-4 pieces each and drop into boiling broth, reduce heat and cover. Simmer for about 5 minutes, until cookies puff. Add chicken and carrots, stir and serve. Morning Glory muffins 2 cups flour 1 ½ cups sugar 2 teaspoons baking soda soda ½ teaspoon salt 2 teaspoon cinnamon 3 LG grated carrot ½ cup chopped walnuts ½ cup coconut 1 apple peeled and grated, 3 eggs, 1 cup oil 2 tsp vanilla ½ cup raisins dry ingredients mixture. Stir in carrots, raisins, apples, walnuts and coconut. Beat eggs with oil and vanilla. Stir the ingredients dry until combined. Fill greased muffin pans 2 / 3 full. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Hot Fudge Pudding Cake During cooking, a layer of cake on the top and a rich chocolate sauce appears on the bottom. Serve with Vanilla Ice Cream or whipped cream. 1 cup Bisquick biscuits / pancake mix 1 cup sugar 3 tablespoons plus 1 / 3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 / 2 cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 2 / 3 cup hot water Powdered sugar (optional) Mix Bisquick, 1 / 2 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons cocoa in a greased baking source 8-inch square. Add milk and vanilla until well blended. Sprinkle evenly with the remaining 1 / 3 cup cocoa and 1 / 2 cup sugar. Pour water. Bake in preheated oven at 350 F for 40 minutes or until top is firm. Sprinkle with sugar powder. Serve at once into a bowl, spoon sauce over cake. Make 6 servings.
