Is it safe to use a copper scrubber to scrub my grill?

I have a George Foreman grill and I very badly stuck on food and wondering if I could use my mop of copper in it. Will it still be safe for cooking and eating out?

No, take copper with non-stick coating off. I just used a warm cloth and dish soap after using paper towels to get most of the fat. The soap dish cloth, plus some elbow grease, Mine is clean. Once I had the barbecue sauce really stuck in it, so a little heated for the final cleanup. My grill still looks basically new and have been about 6 years.
