I'm doing a piece of ceramic tile around a bonfire outside. Any advice on what materials to use or not?

The needs mosaic face: foot traffic, freezing, and high temperature. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It's very, very prudent to ask this question! I would strongly suggest you go to a tile store and consult with professionals and also to check the building codes. There are tables you can buy that are specifically designed to handle high temps and varied. You'll also have to be careful with the type of nozzle you use. Some will more flammable than others. I dare not offer specific advice on the tiles to use because of liability issues. However, they suggest that if you want to use fragments of broken pottery itself is used for ornamental purposes, away from heat. This I learned from a neighbor who went to college to do tile work professional.
