What gases are emitted from portable gas heaters?

We live in a remote house in Spain and have no central heating. During the winter we use portable gas heaters burning gas which we get delivered. I now have a 5 month old baby and worry about the fumes it is giving off? What is being emitted? I believe it is butane or natural gas (the gas comes in metal containers similar to what you’d buy in the UK at a petrol station & I think are called Calor gas bottles)

Calor gas heaters give off carbon dioxide and water vapour.

No portable gas heater would produce carbon monoxide. That would be insane and murderous.

Carbon dioxide is not poisonous. Provided that your house is adequately ventilated, then you don’t need to worry at all.
