What is wrong with my ball pythons under tank heater (maybe the thermometer)?
Im worried because I've heard has ball pythons to have a hot side atleast 95degrees … well I have a heat mat on the warm side and I have a reptile living coral esu Digital Thermometer w / a probe and when I put the probe inside the hand warmer in the heat mat is .. 105-107 degrees is like reading .. but I think his reading of air temperature and the temperature does not drop .. when I put my hand inside skin feels hot .. .. nice and warm and toasted .. I doubt its 107degrees .. Is it safe for my snake? if it becomes hot to my next cool snake movement? thanks
If the probe is at the bottom (glass) from inside the tank, and the reading is high, then that is the form of heat. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a dimmer switch for less. Connect the UTH in this and slide the switch up or down to adjust temps. Simple – I use all my reptile tanks. Definitely want about 90F at the bottom of the tank under the substrate.
