What to look for when buying a barbecue?

I am looking to buy a new barbecue. I'm looking at getting a propane, because I've heard that it is less carcinogenic and then using coal. Should I pay more for things like a side heater / warmer? Or a thermometer?

The propane are well, and taste of food is almost the same as the coals. I think BBQ'ing is an art form and becomes intuitive. Do not go for the side heater / warmer or the thermometer. This only means that you can not think for yourself and you can not plan well. If you absolutly that, then get the guy with the extra tray is raised with the cover. It keeps things hot without em cook for too much longer as they em off the grill. Note cavemen who have to cook over hot coals for thousands of years. I think the propane story you heard was put there by the marketing people propane BBQ. Remember, life is best when kept simple. Keep its simple barbecue.
